Between 2012 and spring 2022, the number of mountaineers worldwide who reached Mount Everest’s summit fluctuated dramatically from year to year. For expedition members, the mean number of climbers that reached Mt. Everest’s uppermost peak in the this ten-year period was 234. Meanwhile, the hired personnel who were employed for assisting these expeditions averaged an annual mean of 291 climbers for the same time frame. For expedition members, the busiest year at Mt. Everest’s peak in this ten-year period came in 2018, when 400 climbers reached the mountain’s summit. That year, 457 employed personnel also reached Mt. Everest’s peak. However, it wasn’t until the following year that the number of hired climbers reaching Mt. Everest’s summit hit a ten-year high, when 507 of them accompanied 397 expedition members to the mountain’s top.
